Behavioral Communication Training
There are 7 two hour trainings in the Behavioral Communication Training series:
Understanding Behavior - what is a developmental disability; how to define and measure behaviors; behavior as a form of communication; basic causes and responses of behavior.
Behavior Reinforcement - defining and understanding reinforcement of behaviors; positive and negative reinforcement; primary and secondary reinforcers; defining and understanding punishment of behaviors.
Managing Behavior - what is a behavioral chain and how do you interrupt one; how to facilitate communication; what do you do when a client hasn't read their Behavior Support Plan?
Ethical Issues - rights of people with developmental disabilities; abuse; confidentiality; care and supervision of clients.
Instructional Methods - prompting hierarchies; chaining; shaping.
Data Collection - the importance of assessments; how and why to collect data.
Service Plans - the elements of an individual service plan; the elements of a behavior support plan.
And before you ask, no, these trainings are not available online or on a CD or DVD. I am not a fan of those types of trainings because you can't ask questions. I much prefer live trainings where people can ask questions and they can talk about people they support currently.

I have been doing behavior trainings of one kind or another for probably 10 years. I make no claims to be an expert, but I have learned a few things in the last 18 years. Even though I was a Program Director, I maintained direct service to clients right up until my program was closed.
